Link building is very important for your website traffic. It is important for two reasons;
1/ It is how you get other websites to send you traffic.
2/ Links to your site will help you in your search engine rankings.
1/ Write articles and then place them with a content site such as ezinearticles.com or www.ideamarketers.com . Make sure the article contains useful information or the sites may reject it. If it has good content, other websites and newsletters will pick it up, and it will go viral.
2/ Submit a press release. Submit a press release anytime something on your site changes. Submit one when your site first opens . Anything that is news worthy is something to release a press release about.
3/ Submit to directories. Look at the site before submitting to it. Some that say they are directories are really link farms. These are bad to link to. A directory will be well organized, and easy to search. A link farm usually just put all the links on one page.
4/ Take part in link exchanges. There are some good ones out there. You have to shop around. These are good for setting up reciprocal links. Make sure they are manual exchanges, and not automatic submissions. Google can tell.
5/Manually exchange links. If you come across a website that you like, and it’s theme is complimentary to your’s, email the webmaster. Explain what you would like,and how this website traffic for both of you, and be very polite. It might surprise you how open the other webmaster is.
6/ Post blog comments. Go out and find some blogs that interest you (preferably along the same lines as your website theme) follow the comments for a while to get the feel for the blog. When you think you have the feel, try posting to the blog, use your signature file to sign the comment.
7/ Social book marking sites. On many of the social network sites you can bookmark sites you find interesting, of course you find your site interesting.
1/ Remember to vary the anchor text during building links. If you had 100’s of links, and they were exactly the same, the search engines will pick up on this and could penalize you.
2/ Try to use a range of relevant keywords, one at a time. Also link to different pages on your site.
3/ Try to build links at an even rate. If you build 250 this month and none next month, the search engines could penalize you.
4/ Concentrate on content. The easiest way to get links to your site is to have fabulous content.
5/ Add a blog to your website. You would be surprised how much traffic a blog would draw.
