I am still not totally sold on social sites to build web traffic. Sure they can send 1000’s of visitors to your site, maybe, but how targeted are those visitors. I have a feeling that most of the people on social sites are there because they are bored.
Sure they will click through to your site, they may even stay long enough to read some of your pages. But soon they are bored again, so they just click off.
I have come across websites claiming as many as 40,000 visitors in a day. And that they all came from social networking sites. But there was no mention of how long they stayed on the website, nor did they mention of what their conversion to sales rate was.
40,000 unique visitors may sound really good. But if they are all just bored tire kickers, then the traffic means nothing. Sure, if you get the numbers, you are bound to make sales. If you don’t, maybe you should rethink your site

Most of the social networking sites have a page rank between 3-9. They are a good place to plant a link, whether they get you direct buyers or not. So come and join me on the social networking sites. Who knows, maybe it is a good place to scare up some targeted traffic.
